The DPS Scholarship Foundation and Durham Public Schools are bringing their annual musical showcase, An Evening of Entertainment to DPAC on Friday, February 8! There will be one spectacular show at 7:30 pm. The benefit concert, a fundraiser for the DPS Scholarship Foundation, features over 500 accomplished students from schools across the district. The DPS is 100% volunteer and donation-run, so all of the proceeds fund scholarships for DPS Seniors.

It’s a musical showcase of some of DPS’s best singing talents from 4th-12th grade

This year the extraordinary creations of Paperhand Puppet Intervention are featured in the opener, The Greatest Show, and the grand finale, This is Me, both from “The Greatest Showman.” The organizers welcome the ‘ringmasters’ of Evening of Entertainment: vocal clinician, Dr. Brett Nolker, music professor at UNC-Greensboro, and professional choreographer Valentine Tarisse from Atlanta along with the vocal clinicians and choreographers for the elementary, middle school, and dance students.

The EOE experience gives students the opportunity to work with these esteemed guest vocal clinicians and choreographers to produce a musical gala that is a ‘must see’ greatest show event.

Songs from Hamilton, The Greastest Showman, Michael Jackson, and others

Don’t miss your shot to see An Evening of Entertainment as it is guaranteed to be a heartfelt celebration with choral and dance students performing a wide genre of music. Be there to see the middle school students’ exciting perform of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s big hit My Shot from “Hamilton” plus John Lennon’s beautiful ballad Imagine. Hear the high school students rock the house with A Tribute to Queen and perform Think to honor Aretha Franklin. Witness the elementary students bring down the house with their performance of Michael Jackson’s Thriller! This is just a sampling of the thrilling program so come support the students and a great cause!
