The Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club
Tucked away from the city on the outskirts of the Duke Forest, you will find the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club. This luxury hotel is unparalleled with its distinguished golf, delectable cuisine, and exquisite event space. A few minutes here, and you will quickly understand why the Washington Duke Inn continues to receive local and national awards for its prominence and grandeur.
An invitation to the Fairview Dining Room is no small affair, so being present for a sneak peek of the Fall Menu was quite the honor. The elegance of the Fairview Dining Room is an extension of the tranquility and tradition that greet guests as they enter in to the main foyer of the Inn.
As I sat down to dine and glanced at the menu, my eyes fell upon the five courses. In front of me was a multitude of fall flavors that instantly caught my eye. These included squash, caramelized vidalia onions, root vegetables, potato dumplings, and apple butter, to name a few.
To be quite frank, I could have left happy and complete after finishing the first course of Hillsborough Goat Cheesecake & Beet Root — this small square is packed with intensity, and is arguably the MVP of the menu. It is decadent and silky-smooth and is nestled beside golden beets, cornbread crumble, and a cured egg yolk.
The four remaining courses were creative and palatable, and were paired nicely with red and white wines. Open year-round, the Fairview Dining Room welcomes guests for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. Cuisine aside, the Washington Duke Inn excels with their optimal hospitality and kindness. They are eager to provide a quick jaunt in a golf cart to get a better view of the estate, and joyfully redirect those who are prone to get lost, like myself.
