The weird and wonderful world of Moogfest is descending upon Durham this weekend and we’re pretty excited. We’ll be there covering all the action so be sure to follow along on Instagram. Don’t have a ticket? No worries. There’s still some seriously awesome FREE events you can enjoy.

Legends on the Lawn

This Saturday, May 19, a pair of hip-hop legends will descend upon downtown Durham for all to enjoy. Moogfest will host DJ sets by Pete Rock and A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad in the heart of the American Tobacco Campus, plus an opening full-band performance by indie-soul songwriter Moses Sumney, who returns to the festival for the second time, and DJ sets by North Carolina’s own Gudiya and AYO VIP.

The day at ATC will start at 12 p.m. with the much-loved Modular on the Spot Picnic, a laid-back, family-friendly exploration of electronic sound, transitioning into a more upbeat affair as the day progresses. All performances at ATC on Saturday are free and open to the public.

Modular Marketplace

The Modular Marketplace is a FREE interactive pop-up featuring boutique electronics, experimental effects, and eurorack synthesizers. From instruments that can make any musical sound imaginable to the latest DIY kits, the marketplace showcases the future of electronic music and gives attendees the opportunity to meet instrument designers and play, test-drive, and take home the next generation of musical devices.

This year’s instrument manufacturers, selected for their cult status or game-changing ambition, will showcase their instruments and offer daily demonstrations, sound experiments, exclusive discounts, and other specials. Many of the entrepreneurs and designers behind these products will be in attendance, and many items will be available for purchase.

The Modular Marketplace will take place at Moogfest 2018 at Bay 7 from 10am – 6pm from May 17-20.
