  • Locals Seafood brings fresh North Carolina seafood from the coast to the triangle every week. They’ll show us how to shuck oysters (a top sustainable choice) and will share information on the importance of water quality and how to choose sustainable seafood.
  • New Soil Worm Composting encourages you to dramatically reduce your household waste through the easy act of composting (and grow pollinator-friendly plants with your homemade organic fertilizer!). New Soil will show off a barrel of their red wiggler worms which help speed things up.
  • Bike Durham promotes policies and education that empower the people of Durham to bike and walk more. They’ll share tried-and-true bike routes to get you cycling.
  • Don’t Waste Durham works to prevent trash in Durham through their Green to Go reusable takeout container service and local policy work. They’ll have locally-made reusable products like cutlery sets and produce bags for sale.

  • Fillaree makes zero-waste, refillable soaps and cleaning products now featured in guest rooms at The Durham Hotel and will give away 100 complimentary packaging-free bar soaps.
  • Scrap Exchange promotes creativity through the reuse of objects that would traditionally be thrown out. They’ll lead us in a craft.
  • Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association works to restore and protect the land within our watershed and advocates for our most vital natural resource: water. They’ll have info on the animals and plants that are native to Ellerbe Creek as well as tips on how to make your home and yard “CreekSmart.”
