Halloween falls on a Thursday this year which means the parties span two weekends. Hope you’ve got your costume ready. Here’s where to get weird.
Halloween Phantasmagoria
October 25, 2019 @ 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at Duke Homestead State Historic Site
Cost: $10 plus tax per adult in advance, $15 plus tax at the door. $5 plus tax for kids 12 and under.
Phantasmagoria, noun: a bizarre or fantastic combination, collection or assemblage; a dreamlike state where real and imagined elements blur together; a magical event at Duke Homestead on October 25th. You are invited to wander the property to see what wonders you can find. We won’t spoil the surprises, but we can tell you that this will be unlike any other Halloween experience you will have.
Barktoberfest

Cost: Free
Durham Parks and Recreation and Beyond Fences are joining forces to provide a fun-filled afternoon with our canine friends! Costume contests, live music, photo booth, a pet market, beer and food are all on the agenda.
Halloween Party at Barley Labs

4-7 p.m. Scare Away Hunger Food Drive & Photo Booth: Bring 5 cans of food or 1 bag of pet food and get a Halloween photo by Alycat Photo & Video Services benefiting The Animal Protection Society of Durham and Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.
7:30 p.m. Grab your team of 2-4 for Halloween Trivia.
8:30 p.m. Halloween costume contest winners announced. Prizes for best human costume, best dog costume, and best family (dogs + humans) costume.

5-8 pm FAMILY Friendly Halloween with trick-or-treating, a kids’ costume contest, games, facepainting, and even a doggo costume contest!
9pm- 2am Aduts Only with a costume contest with big prizes, a DJ, and lots of creepy good times!
As always, there’s no cover, family friendly until 9pm, and 21+ 9pm onwards.
Durham Bulls Fall Festi-BULL
October 26, 2019 @ 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Durham Bulls Athletic Park
Fans are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite character and take part in a costume contest at 6:30 p.m. Hayrides around the playing field will be offered for the first hour, and a fan-choice movie will begin at approximately 7 p.m.
Other activities include inflatable whiffle ball and skee ball, pumpkin decorating (while supplies last) and photo opportunities with princess and super hero characters. Bull City Street Food and other local food trucks will be on-hand to serve their delicacies, and White Claw Hard Seltzer and other refreshments will also be available.
Durham YMCAs’ Trunk-or-Treat

Get a head start on Halloween fun on Monday, October 28, 6:30 – 8 p.m. Costume up the entire family and come on out! Take a tour of the haunted buses!
Prizes for the best trunk and costumes. Attendees are encouraged to bring two bags of candy to help keep the trunks stocked.

Halloween Party at The Jug

Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Order a beer and get a free candy to go with it. It’s like trick-or-treating, but for adults…and with beer!
They will be screening four Halloween movies throughout the evening. There will be a different movie showing in the bar and in the Atrium at 6:00 PM and at 8:00 PM. The 6:00 showings will be family friendly, and the 8:00 showings will be for adults.

Come Trick-or-Treat on 9th Street! The Regulator Bookshop will join fellow Ninth Street merchants in welcoming Halloween trick or treaters on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Stop by The Regulator to trick-or-treat starting and then head down the street to Elmo’s Diner for the Halloween Costume Contest that starts at 5:00 p.m.

Museum of the Moon

For the first time in North Carolina, a giant breathtaking spherical replica of the moon – with a diameter of nearly 23 feet – will hang above Bull City as part of a free community experience. The mesmerizing, internally lit sculpture will be suspended over CCB Plaza in downtown and open to the public for four days over Halloween weekend, supported by free events and fundraising components giving back to the community.

All Hallows’ Eve at Duke Chapel

The Chapel’s candlelit All Hallows’ Eve service takes place on the eve of All Saints’ Day, the festival in the Church that recalls the faith and witness of those who have carried on and cherished the Christian faith throughout history. The service celebrates the Church’s continuing communion with these men and women and memorializes the recently deceased.
Free parking for the event is available in the Bryan Center Parking Lot at 125 Science Drive. ADA parking is available in the Bryan Center Surface Lot at the same address.
Bull Moon Ball Fundraiser
