Get ready, Durham. Bull City Laughs is officially launching this Friday, March 15th. It’s a one of a kind comedy tour of Durham that features the city’s history, and yep, it’s on a renovated, open-air school bus.
What to Expect
The tour is refreshingly ‘Durham’, highlighting the good, the bad, and the funny behind Bull City. You’ll meet at the Beer Durham parking and hop on the bus to visit places like Black Wall Street, NCCU, Duke University, American Tobacco Campus, Durham Bulls Stadium, Duke Gardens, and historic neighborhoods. Your tour guide and comedian, Brandon, also highlights local spots to grab food and where to drink like a local. Whether you’re visiting, new to town, or been here for 40 years, you’re guaranteed to learn something new about Durham.
This tour is not for everyone. If you are easily offended, or hate laughing ‘til your sides hurt, this may not be the tour for you. The whole experience is very interactive with lights, music, and the open windows. Plus, the fact that you’re on a school bus definitely adds to it.
It’s BYOB (Beer or wine, no hard liquor) so feel free to grab something from Beer Durham ahead of time. The tour is about 90 minutes, and there’s a pitstop at the bottle shop, LouElla so you can get a refill or use the bathroom.

The Guys Behind Bull City Laughs
The idea for Bull City Laughs was born in a barbershop called Black Wall Street that Akili owns. Terrell, Akili, Brandon, Q, and Omar are entrepreneurs at heart and often had conversations about the importance of controlling your destiny. They said, “The journey to get here was not an easy one and one that we could’ve given up on, but tomorrow’s leaders need to see what perseverance looks like and we knew no matter what Bull City Laughs needed to come to life.”
These guys put an incredible amount of work into this experience and it shows. This tour needs to be added to the top of the must-do’s on your bucket list and is sure to become a Durham staple.
