Founded in 2015 by Jennings Brody, who is the owner of the beloved Parker & Otis, Chet Miller is the ultimate in Durham for curated gifts, décor, & artifacts. Named for her grandfather, a “scrappy” candy salesman from Indiana, Chet Miller features a host of brands and unique items you won’t find many—if any—other places in Durham. If Parker & Otis and a tall, dark, and handsome gentleman had a love child it’s name would be Chet Miller.

The emphasis is on home and lifestyle, with plenty of options that range from charming glassware to gorgeous greeting cards, from graphic paper goods to local art. I could have easily spend all afternoon here. They probably thought I was a little crazy after my tenth lap around the shop taking it all in.

In all, it’s a gorgeous store with floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors, and a pressed-tin ceiling that’s worth a visit — you’re bound to find the perfect gift, or just something for yourself.

Tip: Be sure to grab an Instagram-able photo with the ‘You are exactly where you need to be’ painted on the floor near the back of the shop.

The brands: At Chet Miller you’ll find names like Jonathan Adler, Stray Dog Designs, Hygge and West, Rifle Paper Co., and more. There’s also a selection of local brands.

Location: 118 West Parrish Street

Hours: 10AM-6PM Tuesday-Saturday
