Free Teen-Only Impact Party at Nasher Museum

Saturday, June 2nd, stop one of 1 of the 5 participating businesses and get a FREE Shop Durham card when you make a purchase. Participating businesses include Funny Girl Farm, Bull Street Market, Pour Taproom, Dolly’s, and Barley Labs. Cards will be limited so hurry out and show these local businesses some love!

Love cider? Yeah, we do too!!! Durham Cider Crawl has put together an amazing crawl featuring the best restaurants, bars and bottle shops in downtown Durham, NC. Cider, Cider Cocktails & Food Pairings. A few days before the event they will release the full schedule and lineup of ciders including a downloadable map. Then you make up your own crawl! Beaver Queen Pageant – Saturday Night Beaver

The Beaver Queen Pageant is Durham’s own special mix of folly, pageantry, and humor. Contestants take on beaver personalities and compete for the title of Beaver Queen with their fashion, talent, and personality. Enjoy the fun at this family-friendly and free event which raises funds for the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association. Vote for your favorite contestants – or bribe a judge – at www.beaverqueen.org. FitCity Fest

Get Up! Get Out! Get Moving! Be a part of history and attend Durham’s 1st Fitness and Music Festival. Come out to the beautiful American Tobacco Campus, next to the Durham Bulls Stadium, and enjoy workouts led by the Triangle area’s top health & fitness professionals! You can also enjoy music form some of the area’s hottest DJ’s! This event was created to unite the active community and inspire the inactive with a fun-filled day of fitness, music, food, and DJs! We will have a schedule of over 25 fitness formats, 5 Workout Zones (see attached photo) with classes led by some of the areas top fitness professionals. Our 5 Workout Zones will allow the community to participate in a variety of formats while allowing us to offer workouts simultaneously throughout the American Tobacco Campus. One cool program feature of the FitCity Fest will be our Kid “Dance-Play-Fit” series of classes targeting kids ages 5-12 and our Senior Fitness Workout. Registration and Check-In (Clearance) will be open from 7am-1pm. All workout participants must wear the FitCity Fest arm-band issued at registration site.

Bull Durham 30th Anniversary Celebration
Date: June 8th and June 15th
Location: Durham Bulls Athletic Park, 409 Blackwell St, Durham, NC 27701

Friday, June 8 there will be a screening of the movie at Durham Athletic Park, the exact site of the picture’s filming. That evening fans will have the opportunity to watch the flick on a giant screen in the outfield, and will be able to watch the film from either the grandstand or the outfield grass. Ticket details will be released closer to the date of the event.
The team will honor the movie throughout its game one week later, on Friday, June 15. The celebration will come 30 years to the day of the film’s world premiere, and the Bulls will showcase numerous artifacts and props from the movie’s set. Additionally the stadium videoboard will showcase different features from the movie’s history, and Annie Savoy’s 1959 Volvo will be on display. The Bulls’ Bull Durham characters Nuke, Crash and Annie will be on-hand to greet fans and take pictures as they enter the stadium, and there will be a Friday Night Fireworks show following the game. That evening the Bulls will also reprise the throwback uniforms worn for the 25th anniversary celebration, which are inspired by the uniforms the team wore in the movie, and throughout the game the jerseys will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to charity.

Juneteenth at Stagville

In April of 1865, at the end of the Civil War, over 900 people were freed from slavery at Stagville. How did Emancipation affect this massive plantation? How did these families’ lives change? Where did they go and what did they build in freedom? Juneteenth at Stagville includes historic cooking demonstrations, performances, and stories of life before and after Emancipation.

Bark in the Park
Date: June 13th
Location: Durham Bulls Ballpark
Bring your pup along to a Durham Bulls game! There will pregame parades for owners and dogs on the field. Human tickets for the event are priced at just $7.99 + tax, and canine tickets are priced at $5 + tax. Proceeds from the canine tickets will be donated to our friends at Second Chance Pet Adoptions.
Please purchase one canine ticket for each dog that will be joining you at the game. This will also provide a seat/space for your dog.

American Dance Festival Performance Season
Dates: June 14, 2018 – July 21, 2018

The world renowned dance festival kicks off this month for a week long event. It Featuring 53 performances by 26 companies and choreographers in 7 different venues. Performances will be held at various locations across Durham like DPAC and Carolina Theatre.

Music On the Lawn – Nikki Hill w/Emily Musolino

We love the concerts on the lawn at American Tobacco Campus! A great kid-friendly, FREE event! Nikki Hill is a remarkable singer fronting a band that will make you believe in rock and roll again. The NC-based band has played their grizzled, edgy songs for audiences across the US, Europe and Australia. Nikki Hill is a force.
Emily Musolino opens the show. Emily is a Durham, NC native who mixes soulful vocals with shredding blues rock guitar riffs. The depth of emotion in her voice is stunning and her songs have a classic sound and lyrics that tell compelling stories.

Driver Open Street Festival

The Driver Open Street Festival is a community led Bull City Play Street in East Durham. Play Streets close neighborhood streets to traffic, and open that space to the community to encourage physical activity and healthy living. The festival will have fun activities for kids and families, organizations sharing resources and information with residents and a space for neighbors to get out and get to know each other.

NC Juneteenth Celebration

Durham Comics Fest

Durham County Library’s annual celebration of comics readers and creators of all ages returns for its 8th year! Enjoy workshops, trivia night, local artist alley, comics creator networking and much more. This year’s special guests include Liz Prince (Tomboy, Clarence), Molly Ostertag (The Witch Boy, Strong Female Protagonist), Jenny Zervakis (Strange Growths) and Amy Godfrey (Durham Comics Project). North Carolina Hiphop Festival

The festival is the only large-scale event in the entire Southeastern continental US region that is specifically designated to Hiphop. We’re excited about seeing artists like Petey Pablo, Large Professor, and SA-ROC. Tickets start at $19 for 1 day or $49 for a 3 day pass!
