Beyond the Distillery
It’s a place where you can experience the grain-to-glass journey from start to finish. The grain is grown on the property or a farm in nearby Hillsborough. You can walk through the fields of grain, see the goats, learn about the distilling process, and sample a variety of Mystic’s award winning spirits.
A Sustainable Approach
The distillery also boasts one of the largest solar fields in the industry which means that they can produce 100% of the distilleries energy needs right on site. Also, all of their spent grain is given to a local farm who’s beef you can also purchase at the distillery. This sustainable approach to farming makes Mystic a truly unique Durham gem!
Award-Winning Spirits
And let’s not forget the spirits! Among numerous awards, they recently won a Gold medal for their Heart of Mystic bourbon at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2021 and 2022. They also won a double gold medal and Best Small Batch Bourbon Up to 5 Years for the Heart of Mystic bourbon also at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. They also might be sending some Bourbon to SPACE! But that’s a story for another day!
Behind-the-Scenes Tours
One of the best ways to experience Mystic Farm and Distillery is to take a guided tour. On the tour, you’ll learn about the history of the distillery, the different types of grain that Mystic grows, and the distilling process from start to finish. You’ll also get to see Mystic’s copper pot stills up close and personal. Tours can be booked via their website or by going to the distillery.
Tantalizing Tastings
After the tour, you’ll head to the tasting room, where you’ll get to sample a variety of Mystic’s spirits. Mystic offers a wide variety of spirits, including bourbon, vodka, gin, and liqueurs. So whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or just getting started, you’re sure to find something to your taste. Be sure to purchase a bottle at the gift shop to keep the party going!
