Parker & Otis, one of Durham’s most popular and beloved institutions, will have a new address starting later in 2020. The 13 year-old restaurant, wine shop, retail haven, and gathering spot will move to American Tobacco Campus in November.

Parker & Otis will transform a portion of the large restaurant space (5,600sf) formerly occupied by Tyler’s Taproom in the historic campus’ Washington Building (Bay 4).

“How often is a business presented with the opportunity to fully reset after 13 years?” says Jennings Brody, owner, Parker & Otis. “I now have that chance! I am so excited for this new adventure!!”

In addition to being a popular off campus spot for the American Tobacco team (as well as the campus’ 4,400 daily workers and residents), Parker & Otis’ recent relationship with American Tobacco started as a participant in the campus’ PopUp @ ATC with a test run of a standalone stationary shop which transformed into the permanent Parker Paper Company which will remain located on Blackwell Street.

“Jennings is the kind of home grown entrepreneur who embodies the qualities that make the Bull City a fantastic place to start and build a business,” says Michael Goodmon, Senior Vice President, Real Estate, Capitol Broadcasting Company. “Her and her team’s focus on community and quality make this move a home run not only for the campus but the entire city.”

Parker & Otis’ relocation joins the recent announcement that American Tobacco Campus’ parent company Capitol Broadcasting Co. (CBC), Hines, the international real estate firm, and USAA Real Estate, have announced the closing on the joint venture to develop a 700,000-square-foot mixed-use project on 11 acres bordering the west side of the bustling campus.
